What is a Prayer walk?

It is an event where a group of Christian walk to or around a certain place and ask God to bless and protect that place and the people that live in it. For example, we are going for a walk through Buford starting our route at the Buford Church of God, making a loop, and ending back at the church.

Who is Rooster Phillips?

Ronnie Phillips, known to most in our church and community as Rooster, was a loving and God-fearing man. Rooster and his family considered the prayer walk to be an important event, not only for the church but for Buford, the city he loved. The Phillips were one of the many families at our church to be a part of the first prayer walk, which started in 2012. Around that same time, they found out that his cancer had spread to his bones. However, That did not stop them from being involved in this community outreach event. In 2013, Rooster walked his last prayer walk with help of his family, and in October 13th, 2014 , went to be with the Lord, only twelve days before the 3rd walk. Days leading up to the 3rd walk in 2014 ,our church announced that our prayer walk would be renamed the Rooster Phillips Prayer walk in honor of a great and Godly man. Even thought he had passed, his daughter and wife still came to the Prayer Walk, and walked in his place.  His wife and daughter still join us every year to celebrate God, our city, and the man that inspired a community.
